Joe Blanton traded to Los Angeles Dodgers by Philadelphia Phillies - MLB Update
The Los Angeles Dodgers have obtained the Philadelphia Phillies’ starting pitcher Joe Blanton from waivers. As per reports, the trade includes a Minor Leaguer who will be sent to the Phillies, but the name of the player has not been revealed yet. Furthermore,
Blanton will be arriving at the Dodgers’ club-house on Saturday.
The Phillies have resorted to an all-out attempt at selling their players. They are under negotiations with regard to their other pitchers and are expected to announce further trades in exchange for the prospects.
Philadelphia has understood the reality that they will not be able to improve on the Division table. Therefore, the best way to go about things is restructuring the roster for the future.
Blanton possesses great arms. Once he is given proper run support, he can turn out to be a consistent performer. In this regard, with an offence of the Dodgers which can offer reasonable amount of support, he can render valuable services for the club.
The kind of success the Dodgers have enjoyed in the season so far will be continued further as Blanton starts and puts up great performances on the mound for them.
Meanwhile, the news has taken the pitcher aback. In light of the fact that before the trade deadline the rumours were swirling about his trade, he was not expecting that any deal will be agreed by the Phillies after the date has passed.
"It was a little bit of a shock, especially since the trade deadline had passed," Blanton said. "But when you're in trade rumors, you've got to be ready to do whatever. And I was happy if I stayed. At the same time, it will be a new thing, a new adventure
to go. And that's always fun."
However, Blanton is ready to play for a new team now. For him, it is always fascinating to start a new journey. Personally, Blanton wanted to continue playing for the Phillies but he cannot do anything now but to leave the club and join hands with new comrades.
The decision about when Blanton will be allowed by the Dodgers to start his first game for them in the season has not been made yet.
It will be interesting to see how he can help the Dodgers in the season as a starting pitcher.
