Joe Calzaghe: David Haye is showing frightening power on the pads – Boxing news
The World Boxing Organisation, World Boxing Association, World Boxing Council, International Boxing Federation, Ring Magazine and British super middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe visited the World Boxing Association world heavyweight champion David Haye
last Tuesday on June 21 at the Vauxhall gymnasium and was impressed by the way Haye was training.
David ‘The Hayemaker’ Haye, will take on the International Boxing Federation, World Boxing Organisation, International Boxing Organization and the Ring Magazine world heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko in a unification bout for the heavyweight titles
on July 2, 2011 at the Hamburg Arena in Germany and Calzaghe believes Haye has enough material to win the bout.
The 39-year-old Italian Dragon, Calzaghe, told the media that the Brit has awesome punching power and speed. He said he watched his sparring session for two hours and saw him moving like a middleweight with a heavyweight’s power in the ring.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “The punch power he is showing on the pads is frightening, and everything is thrown with speed. He's moving like a middleweight with heavyweight power at the moment, and that can only be a good thing.”
Calzaghe, who has won all of his 46 fights including 32 by the way of a knockout, added the Hayemaker, Haye, is throwing a lot of punches at a lightning fast speed and it looks as if he is already going ahead of his schedule before the fight.
“He's very lean and mobile, too. It's extremely refreshing to see a heavyweight throwing seven and eight punch combinations and looking like they are able to throw 100 punches per round, if needed. David is well on course right now,” said Calzaghe.
In the end, Calzaghe admitted it was a great fun to watch Haye training. He also revealed he has never seen Haye in such an excellent form ever before in his life.
“I have been lucky enough to see David prepare for his last few fights, and I don't think I've ever seen him look in shape like this,” he said.
