Joe Calzaghe says David Haye is a dynamic and exciting fighter to watch – Boxing news
Former World Boxing Organisation, World Boxing Association, World Boxing Council, International Boxing Federation, Ring Magazine and British super middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe has given a pre-fight boost to the World Boxing Association world heavyweight
champion David Haye as he visited him in his Vauxhall gymnasium on Tuesday and watched him training for two hours.
The 39-year-old Italian Dragon, Calzaghe, was pretty impressed after watching the 30-year-old Londoner, Haye. He told the media that it was a great pleasure to watch Haye sparring and training in the ring. He said Haye is a dynamic and exciting pugilist
like him.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “I always love coming down here and seeing David go through his paces. He is such a dynamic and exciting fighter to watch – he's my kind of fighter.”
Calzaghe, who during his career won all of his 46 fights including 32 by the way of a knockout, reckons the Hayemaker, Haye, is one of the most exciting fighters in the world. However the most flattering statement that came was from Calzaghe was when he
said even Haye’s gym sessions are more exciting than many actual fights.
Calzaghe commented, “He's quick, sharp and classy and throws punches with bad intentions. David is one of the most exciting fighters in the world right now, and even his gym sessions are more exciting than many actual fights.”
In the end, Calzaghe revealed he was waiting for this bout for a year and finally now it was happening which was great. He said he wanted Haye to be fit but he has already beaten his expectations.
He said, “I have been looking forward to this fight for years now, and it's just great to see David looking in such awesome shape. I expected him to look sharp and fit, but he looks even better than I could have ever imagined, said Calzaghe.”
David Haye will take on Wladimir Klitschko on July 2, 2011 at the Hamburg Arena in Germany for a unification bout for the heavyweight titles in front of a crowd over 60,000 people. However let’s see if he really can beat the 6 ft 6.5” Ukrainian giant, as
Klitschko is also one of the best heavyweight boxers in the world.
