The former Chelsea star has come out in the media stating that his former employers were wrong in letting of the current Real Madrid manager.
Lille OSC’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Joe-Cole-c18694 has stated that Roman Abramovich was wrong in letting go of the inspirational manager, Joes Mourinho.
It was clearly the English side that lost out in that fight, as Mourinho went on to win a historic treble of Champions League, Serie A and Coppa Italia with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 are still desperately looking for their first major continental trophy, despite
having changed two managers ever since.
Talking on his experience with Mourinho, the self proclaimed Special One, Cole said:
"He was a big, big influence on my career. I remember the first meeting, he got the lads together and said ‘listen guys, you haven’t won anything, you have done nothing in the game, if you stick with me we are going to win this league by April.
"All the lads were like ‘who is this geezer'? Then we went out to train and the training was blinding, tackles flying in and it was so intense.
Cole also credits the Portuguese for personal development.
"He saw something in me that maybe I didn’t see in myself. If someone tells me I can’t do something, I want to show them I can do it. That’s why he’s a great manager and he’s a good guy as well. He’d long gone before I realised that he’d made such an
impact on my football. I appreciate everything he did for me.” He concluded.
Love for Mourinho among his former players is not rare, and Cole is just one of the many to have come out in praise of the Special One in recent days.
