Joe Cole and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ireneusz-Jelen-c17008 could make LOSC Lille debut – Ligue 1 report
Summer signings, Joe Cole and Ireneusz Jelen are set to make their debuts for reigning French Ligue 1 champions LOSC Lille.
This was revealed by Lille manager Rudi Garcia. Joe Cole signed for Les Dogues in the last few hours of the transfer window from Liverpool on a season-long loan while Jelen joined the French champions as a free agent after his contract at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AJ-Auxerre-c38247 expired.
Initially it was thought that Jelen might not be able to make an early debut for Les Dogues after the Pole missed much of the 2010/2011 campaign with Auxerre due to injury. However, the 30-year-old is reported to be fully fit and Rudi Garcia is considering
giving the winger his Lille debut.
Joe Cole on the other hand, has not played a competitive game since February and after a forgettable 2010/2011 campaign with Liverpool, is looking to get his career back on track.
Rudi Garcia is also willing to give the duo a chance to start adapting to the style of play at Lille and the Frenchman is looking to give them playing time this weekend when Lille travel to the Rhone district to play against AS Saint-Etienne.
While talking to the media, Garcia said, “Joe did a full pre-season with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 which is pretty good but he is going to be lacking in match fitness.”
While talking about Jelen’s situation, Garcia hinted that he is still considering giving the Pole more time to get back to full-fitness as the winger has not trained for two months.
“We need to make sure we don’t cause them to get injured by throwing them too soon. We will see how they are on Saturday, we will see how they are after their first full week training with us. They could both be involved, but they could also be left out,”
the Lille coach said.
Lille managed to defeat http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Florent-Balmont-c13837, Garcia might be forced
to start the game with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Joe-Cole-c18694 who could prove to be an important part of the midfield in the coming weeks of the Championnat.
