The England international has returned to parent club Liverpool and though Rudi Garcia wants to keep him, the club’s finances might not grant him his wish
Yesterday at a press conference, Lille coach Rudi Garcia said that he would like to keep Joe Cole in sporting terms. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international joined Lille on a season-long loan last summer from Liverpool FC.
Under the tutelage of Rudi Garcia, the midfielder has seen his form improved. When the season started, Joe Cole admitted his desire to stay at the northern club on a permanent basis. However, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Joe-Cole-c18694’s wage demands would prove to be a stumbling block.
While talking to the Sun, Cole said that he enjoyed his time at Lille.
“My time at Lille has been extremely positive. I switched from the wing to the heart of the game and I have really enjoyed it.”
Cole also said that seeing Garcia work so well with players has helped him enormously. However, when asked about his future at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 and Lille, the Englishman stayed coy and said that though he has returned to his parent club, he has no idea what the
future beholds for him.
“I have not discussed this (future) with Liverpool but if things remain as they are, I will return there for the summer preparation. When you do not know who will be the future manager, it is always complicated.”
After repeatedly saying that he wants to stay at Lille, it seems that Cole is ready to perform a U-turn.
However, there are other teams in the Premier League who would not be against signing the talented midfielder.
West Ham United, where the player made his name, have recently been promoted to the Premier League and would consider signing Cole.
“I am very pleased that West Ham are back,” said Cole.
Another newly-promoted side in Reading is also interested in the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 star’s services which means that Lille might not be able to sign the player.
Joe Cole is set to cross the Channel once again and Rudi Garcia’s wishes would unfortunately, remain as wishes and Seydoux might be looking to offer his coach a new replacement.
