Joe Cole move to Arsenal could be in doubt
Before the World Cup it was reported that Joe Cole had signed a contract with Arsenal, with only a medical needed to be completed to finalise the move.
However, Cole’s move to Arsenal could be in doubt as it has emerged that AC Milan are looking to snatch the former Chelsea star.
Reports in Italy suggest AC Milan will offer a three-year contract worth £9million a year to the 28-year-old, with wages in the region of £60,000 a week, £20,000 less than what he was at Chelsea and £40,000 less than what Arsenal are believed to have offered him.
Cole was released by Chelsea and is available on a free transfer. Tottenham Hotspur are also keen on him, with Harry Redknapp doing everything he can to get Cole.
It is believed that England manager Fabio Capello has recommended him to AC Milan. Cole only made a few substitute appearances at the World Cup, and barely featured for England.
Cole’s agent David Geiss has said a deal for Cole will be done in the next two to three weeks.
Cole is likely to stay in London, as sources have revealed that his wife, who gave birth in March, wants to stay in the capital and is against moving away, especially abroad.
