Joe Cole set to return for Liverpool
Liverpool have been handed a boost with England international Joe Cole returning from injury in time to face Tottenham Hotspur in a crucial English Premier League clash on Sunday 28 November.
The winger has missed the Reds' last five games after picking up a hamstring injury in the 1-0 win away at Bolton Wanderers on 31 October.
Cole was on the sidelines as his former club Chelsea visited Anfield and were beaten 2-0, and he has also failed to play in the UEFA Europa League win over Napoli and the EPL games against Wigan Atheltic (1-1 draw), Stoke City (2-0 defeat) and West Ham United
(3-0 win).
While Liverpool are slowly crawling back up the league, manager Roy Hodgson is wary about pitching 28-year-old Cole back into action too soon, but is pleased to have him back for a game which could have a significant bearing on UEFA Champions League qualification.
Hodgson told reporters, "We hoped he would be back to face West Ham, but it has taken that little bit longer. Joe is not that far away really, so hopefully he will have recovered in time for Tottenham.
"Hamstring injuries are tricky and I'm afraid we can only rely on what the sports science people tell us, and if they say he needs more time we just have to wait."
Liverpool are currently in ninth place in the EPL standings, three points and three places behind a Spurs side, who finished in fourth place last season and have gone on to enjoy a strong run in the Champions League.
Cole, who won three EPL titles and three FA Cups during his time at Stamford Bridge, has scored just one goal in 13 games since moving to Anfield on a free transfer in the summer.
