Joe Cole set to sign for Arsenal
Joe Cole could be on the verge of changing everything  a move from Chelsea to Arsenal on a free transfer after rumours emerged and apparently a three-year contract at the Emirates Stadium in principal has been agreed.

Based on the rumours flying all over the net and in football circle, Aresenal deal makers met with Cole’s representatives to iron out the terms of the deal.   If there are no show stopper clauses in the contract Cole's transfer is expected to be finalised as early has the next few days.

Cole’s signing also fits in with the Arsene Wenger transfer philosophy in that the England international would represent a shrewd bit of business.

According to reports, Joe Cole looks set to sign for Arsenal on a three-year deal.

Rumours suggest that the England international will make the switch from Chelsea and sign on a free transfer.

The rumours follow Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp’s comments this morning, as he believed Cole had already agreed to a move.

“It looks to me that someone's going to make a great free transfer. I genuinely don't know who that is, but I don't think it's going to be Tottenham. I've got a feeling - and I may be wrong - that he's already agreed a deal with someone,” said Redknapp.

Cole’s contract at Chelsea was not going to be extended, and the 28-year-old fell out of favour with Chelsea manager Carlo Anchelotti, unable to get his place in the starting 11 back after a long-term injury.

Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger revealed he wanted to complete all of his transfers in time for the World Cup.

A deal is expected to be completed by next week, before the start of the competition.

Wenger is a keen admirer of Cole, and if the rumours are believed to be true, the 28-year-old would fit into Arsenal's attacking style of play.

Cole wants his future to be resolved before the World Cup, and if he decides to come to the Emirates, Arsenal would have beaten off the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham for his signature.

After the unconvincing victory against Japan, the England team is hopeful and full of optimism at the moment, but a behind-the-scenes look showcases a lot of potential worries for Fabio Capello while preparing for world’s biggest football event in South Africa. The biggest concern would be to avoid the Spanish team drama when they lost the semi-final in the Confederations Cup last year. After being thrown out in the semis, Spanish striker David Villa admitted that he lost his focus in the game because of transfer rumours and the keen interest shown in him by Real Madrid.

Although Cole's move is most likely to be done before the World Cup starts, if it does stretch, keeping focus will be a tough task.

Transfer drama is full of gossip and rumours, where an interest shown by the biggest clubs (the likes of Barcelona, Madrid, Chelsea and Arsenal) is good enough to unsettle a player and make him lose his concentration. The road ahead, therefore, could be intriguing or maybe nerve-racking, especially for the England coach and maybe for the players as well.
