Joe Cole targets individual and team improvement at Liverpool
Liverpool midfielder Joe Cole has said that he needs to start performing better for his club, and is hoping that Roy Hodgson's team can get their second win of the Premier League season.
Cole joined Liverpool from Chelsea this summer on a free transfer, in an attempt by Hodgson to strengthen his offensive line. Despite showing his potential to the Anfield fans in the Europa League, the midfielder has failed to impress in the Premier League.
After being sent off against Arsenal in the club's first league fixture, Cole has failed to score in his subsequent four starting appearances.
"I'm not playing well, but I know I'm at a club that is going to help me through it. I know that and I expect better from myself," the 28-year-old said, following Liverpool's 2–0 loss to Everton on Saturday, 16 October. "I'll just try and do what I can do
to get back to it. I need to find my form somehow. I'm sure I will, and it will come soon."
Liverpool needs three points
The club, which was bought by American company New England Sports Ventures (NESV) on Friday, 15 October, has only one league win to its name this season. Liverpool is currently 19th place in the league.
"It's disappointing to lose such a big game, but in these situations, the worse thing you can do is start pointing fingers at each other. We have got to look at ourselves. We have had a tough start and a bad start with results. We can't do anything about
that now. We are where we are and we have got to change it. We have got to dig deep."
Cole, who has not been called up for Fabio Capello's England team since this summer's World Cup, where he made two substitute appearances, added that getting a win is of the essence for his team.
"The right thing to do is just try and grind out the first win and then take it from there. We are right behind the manager. We all believe in the team and in the club."
