Joe Gibbs Racing driver Kyle Busch fined for over speeding in North Carolina – NASCAR news
Joe Gibbs Racing driver Kyle Busch was fined after the North Carolina police saw him over speeding in his Lexus car.
Busch has apologised to his fans and the state for his reckless driving.
The local police officers saw the NASCAR driver speeding three times over the limit as per the figures revealed by the Statesville Record and Landmark. He was going at 128mph while crossing a 45mph limit zone in his yellow Lexus LFA, a Japanese sports coupe.
Busch stated that he was trying the new sports car which enticed him to cross the speed limit. He was stopped by the police when he was passing through Troutman and Mooresville.
Busch said, “I went beyond the speed I should have been going on a public road. I apologize to the public, my fans, sponsors and race teams for my lack of judgment. I take responsibility for my actions, and I can assure you that something like this will
never happen again.”
A public representative from Joe Gibbs Racing told the media that the exact description of the incident was not yet available. He said the team was trying to collect all the facts about the incident.
Busch drives for JGR in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and Nationwide Series. In addition, he also owns a team in the Camping World Truck Series.
County Sheriff officer form Iredell Chris Stone, who stopped the NASCAR driver, questioned Busch for his over speeding. In reply, Busch said that the machine was just a ‘toy.’
Busch was released since the state law allowed to cite and release a person instead of arresting him and then requiring a bond for his release.
Over speeding can cost Kyle Busch to lose his driving license. According to the North Carolina Motor Vehicle Handbook, a driver’s license will be suspended for at least 30 days if he is found driving 15mph above the limits.
However, Busch can compete in NASCAR since a driver’s license is not required for the purpose.
