Joe Gibbs Racing driver Kyle Busch says he is fine with Kevin Harvick – NASCAR news
Joe Gibbs Racing driver of car no. 18 Toyota Camry, Kyle Busch says he is not cautious of Kevin Harvick after the four-week probation ends for both drivers.
Both drivers will participate in the Sprint Cup Series race, Halva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400 on Sunday, June 19, 2011.
Busch said, “I'm not expecting anything at any time, but that doesn't mean that it won't happen. It's fine with me. It's not my problem. I race my race-car and he drives his. You saw how I raced [at Pocono].”
He added, “When you're getting pushed down the front straightaway all the way to the bottom of the racetrack, you're trying to get away from the situation. It wasn't happening. He [Harvick] kept following me so I backed off and waited for my next opportunity
to pass him and then when I did pass him, he then pushed me all the way down the front stretch.”
In last week’s race at Pocono, Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch were warned to be cautious about their on-track rivalry, as both drivers raced very close side-by-side.
The actual incident took place at the Darling event. During the race, both drivers were entangled in a pit lane battle. By the end of the race, both racers were fined worth $25,000 each and were handed a four-week probation period to the penalty.
Later in a Camping World Truck Series race at Kansas, Harvick’s team owner Richard Childress was entangled with Kyle Busch. For the battle, Childress was fined $150,000.
Kevin Harvick shared his views at Michigan and said that probation does hold back the driver but it does not change the way someone races. Harvick has won three events in the 2011 season and is confident to race hard at Michigan. He will struggle to improve
his position in the championship.
