Joe Girardi, Mark Teixeira not against the weather for suspending opening game – MLB Update
As the first outing of the American League Division Series between the New York Yankees and the Detroit Tigers has been suspended due to heavy rain on Friday night, Yankees’ manager Joe Girardi does not blame the weather for being unfriendly throughout the
year.
"The weather is tricky around here," Yankees’ manager Joe Girardi said. "It's been hard to predict all year long. I have no complaints.”
Although the Yankees’ starter Carsten Charles Sabathia had made a perfect retaliation in the second inning after he allowed a single run in the top of the first, Girardi was sure of Sabathia’s comeback.
According to Girardi, both clubs will have to face the same situation and it is a must. He made it clear that it was not his or anyone else desire to have the opening game postponed here in this ground, however the conditions of this city has been resilient
all year long. There are few obstacles that are really difficult to remove and rain being one of them, commented Girardi.
Like Girardi, the Yankees’ first baseman, Mark Teixeira who has walked just after Rodriguez managed to earn a game tier RBI single, was also not complaining of the weather.
"This was definitely the worst year from that standpoint," Yankees’ first baseman Mark Teixeira said. "But as a player, I have nothing -- I can't control the weather. You go out there whenever you're called upon."
Looking at the current weather report, given to the Major League Baseball’s vice president of baseball operations Joe Torre, there are chances of rain on Saturday as well. The game then will be adjusted on Sunday if Saturday night does not handle the heat
of the game. Both teams will be looking to get in a good performance and take an early lead in this exciting series.
Yankees and the Tigers both have the same kind of pressure with the delay, as on the other hand, Tampa Bay Rays have started their stint with a shut-out win over the Texas Rangers.
