Joe Johnson believes 2012 Six-Red World Championship win will boost confidence of Mark Davis
Despite the fact that England’s Mark Davis performed tremendously in the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker tournament at the beginning of the new snooker season, he was unable to claim the title and crashed out of the semi-final stage of the event.
However, the Englishman did not lose his heart and continued his good form in the next snooker event, the 2012 Six-Red World Championship.
Davis performed tremendously in the qualifying session of the event and made his way into the initial round of the event. He was in good shape from the beginning of the clash and played sensibly during his run. The former World Snooker Championship winner,
Joe Johnson also appreciated the Englishman’s performance in the tournament because Davis was tremendous at the baize.
The 2012 Australian Goldfields Open snooker tournament was yet another opportunity for the Englishman but he failed to make it into the final encounter and crashed out of the contest in the semi-final stage. Johnson also believes that winning an important
event like Six-Red World Championship will boost Mark Davis’ confidence. Winning a major title is always a tremendous boost to any players confidence during the season.
He wrote in his recent blog post on World Snooker’s official website, “The Six Reds World Championship in Thailand, which was not a ranking event, was won for the second time by Mark Davis, adding to his 2009 win in Ireland. He beat former world champion
Shaun Murphy 8-4 in the final and collected the £40,000 first prize.”
He added, “Surely now this will give him the confidence to believe he can go on and win ranking events.”
Davis must now be looking forward to make an appearance in the upcoming snooker events in the new season. Right now, there are no major ranking snooker events for a couple of weeks.
The next major ranking snooker tournament will be the 2012 Shanghai Masters which will commence in September. Johnson is also looking forward to see Davis playing at his best in the coming competitions. It will be interesting to see what impact Davis can
make during the new snooker season as he appears to be in brilliant form.
