Joe Johnson believes Ali Carter can win World Snooker Championship – Snooker News
With some classy snooker display in his season campaign, England’s Ali Carter was able to book his place in the final encounter of the 2012 World Snooker Championship against none other than Ronnie O’Sullivan. He played with the best of his skills against
O’Sullivan in the World Championship final but failed to win the title and tumbled down at the hands of the Essex Exocet by the score line of 11-18.
However, his fighting spirit has made him start of many eyes which also include the former World Snooker Champion Joe Johnson who always appreciates Carter’s determination as a potter.
Carter has reached the final of any World Snooker Championship two times and he was up against O’Sullivan in those two finals. He was certainly under pressure against the Rocket because he knows what the Wordsley potter is capable of.
Nevertheless, despite a lot of pressure, Carter never backed down or lost his heart and fought until the end which has impressed Johnson the most and he believes that Carter can definitely win the World Snooker Championship because nobody has the strongest
fighting spirit like him.
While speaking to the local media, Johnson said, “Ali will fight to the very death, which is something I admire in him, especially with the Crohn's disease that he is still suffering from. Losing two finals will be hard for Ali to take but he's a fighter
and will bounce back from this, he just never gives up.”
He added, “To play through his illness and stay in the top 16 is amazing. You have to admire him for that but I'm not sure he has in it him to win a Worlds, even if he has been in the final. He'll just be another player if he doesn't, because that is what
people remember.”
The former champ also emphasises that Carter really needs to add at least one World title in his account before he leaves snooker for good. According to Johnson, Carter has the capability to unsettle any opponent at the baize.
During the previous snooker season, the two-time World Snooker Championship finalist, Carter suffered from Crohn’s Disease but still continued to play his impressive game which shows his determination for his game.
