Joe Le Taxi favourite for the Membership of Southwell Golf Club Handicap
Joe Le Taxi will be chasing another victory in the Membership of Southwell Golf Club Handicap in England on Thursday, March 1, 2012. The class-6 event has a winning cash prize of £1,617.
A total of 10 runners will be fighting for victory in the event and their names are: Prince Of Vasa, Ace Of Spies, Joe Le Taxi, Dunseverick, Footstepsofspring, Indian Arrow, Ridgeway Hawk, Gracie´s Gift, Whiskey Junction and Amno Dancer.
Joe Le Taxi has entered 15 races in his career, winning four of them. His recent form has not been much impressive, but the bookmakers still favoured him because he likes running at Southwell.
Mark Johnston’s trained runner will be partnered by seasoned jockey, Joe Fanning, who has got a pretty decent strike rate at this level. His participation in the race will also encourage the punters to place more bets on Joe Le Taxi.
The bookmakers have also shown some confidence in Prince Of Vasa, trained by Michael Smith. He has got familiar with the race track at Southwell, as he has been racing here for quite some time
The punters will be a touch hesitant over placing bets on the five-year-old gelding, who has been a touch inconsistent in his career. However, he earned a victory at the same venue just a couple of races ago, thus the momentum is with him.
Prince Of Vasa will be partnered by Andrew Mullen, who has been doing a pretty decent job with the same runner over the past few races. He will look forward to continue repeating the recent showings.
The bettors will also be expecting Ace Of Spies to pull off something special today. He finished runner up in his last race at Southwell, but his last victory came a long time ago, which will not work in his favour.
The seven-year-old gelding will have to be more consistent in order to win the confidence of the bookmakers and the bettors. He will be ridden by Jimmy Fortune, jockey loaded with plenty of experience in this class.
The remaining runners will have to work extremely hard in order to challenge the top three favourites.
The current stats show that Joe Le Taxi has a very good chance of winning today, but we will have to wait and see what the other two favourites can do today.
