  1. OK, I knew Rocky personally, and one thing he never wanted to do was to hurt the other fighter.  He could likely have KO"D every man he fought, but he was afraid of killing his opponents.  He almost killed a much bigger high ranking fighter right before he won the tile, and that always bothered.

Marciano would have beat Louis in about 6 to 7 rounds at age 30.  Louis had slowed down by that age, but was still dangerous to a fighter not able to take a punch.  Louis had a really fast jab and that won many of his fights, but Marciano could take whatever Louis would throw and he would then hit Louis.  Marciano's punches were murderous, and he could KO an opponent with either hand.  Remember this; when they fought right before Marciano beat Walcott for the tile, Rocky did not want to fight Louis, because Louis was Rocky's idol and he did not want to hurt Louis; that is why he did not KO Louis until the 8th round. His trainer told Rocky to hit Louis, and Rocky said he did not want to hurt him, and the trainer told Rocky to just hit him once and get it over. Whe Louis was destitute Rocky gave money to him

  2. Rocky never lost .....Joe Louis ..did so what do you think....I think Rocky wins!!!!!!!!

  3. "joe louis was 137 years old when he fought marciano"

eddie murphy ~ coming to america......(paraphrased).

louis in his prime would have out jabbed 'the rock' winning on points or stopping him on cuts.

if ezzard charles had louis' punching power and hand speed, it would have been a different story, as he would have done a lot more than split marciano's nose.

  4. It could go either way. Louis wasn't as over the hill as Rocky haters portray. he had just turned 37, and he was an 8-5 favorite in the fight. Louis later himself said that he might not have ever been able to beat Marciano. Credit Louis for never making excuses like so many people on here do.

As you can see, Maurice above is one of those people.

  5. Rocky Marciano.  He was relentless and he could take a punch, unlike Joe, who mainly fought against a bunch of nobodies.

Joe Louis is one of the most over-rated heavyweight champs of all time.  He was slow afoot, and was an easily hit target.

And, as I said, Joe never really fought any great fighters in his prime years.  Heck, they even used the term "bum of the month" to describe Joe's opponents during his reign.

  6. James listen to me.the biggest mistake people make when they talk about joe louis is they say he had fast hands.......uh no he didn't.he wasn't ALI fast at all. he was a bag of sand with a good right hand.he was slower and would trade shots with people, which is exactly what rocky would want.joe went 8 or 9 fights in a row fighting bums.louis didn't dance around the ring on his toes like ali.eventually he would get caught by rocky and then it would be lights out. Most people forget rocky had more heart then any boxer alive and he punched harder then almost all of them today.

Rocky would easily beat joe louis.

  7. Joe Louis defeats Rocky by decision.

They both have iron chins, so I don't think there will be a KO.

Technically I feel Joe Louis is a better "boxer" and Rocky is a better "fighter."
