  1. Over 15 rounds it has to be Joe Louis.

  2. It would end very tragically for Jones. Jones would have some early round success with his speed and movement while the Bomber slowly stalked him and started timing him. Then about round four, Joe would set a trap and end the fight with a perfect left right left combo. It would take smelling salts and about two minutes for Jones to come to.

  3. Louis by KO.  The era and the competition that Louis fought in and faced is unparalleled in boxing history.  Jones is very strong with very fast hands, but Louis could take anything Jones could throw.  Once Louis starts to land, its over.

Louis by KO in rd 3.

  4. Joe Louis via KO!

  5. Having watched both at their best and I'm not 100% certain Louis would have coped with the style and speed of Roy Jones, who is one of the best of all time.I cannot think of Louis ever fighting anyone of the Jones calibre, only Conn who very nearly beat him!Id go for Roy Jones to win a decision over 12 or 15 rounds>

  6. I honestly believe that Joe Louis who is arguably one of the greatest champions in boxing history would have destroyed Roy Jones Jr.  Yes he did have a bad night against Conn in their first fight and Conn had a great night though he was still knocked out.  We are talking about Joe Louis here and not to be confused with John Ruiz.  Joe had a pulverizing jab and knockout power in either hand.  Joe was a complete fighter and was champion nearly 12 years.  Jones Jr. is very fast and elusive and probably had the greatest reflexes I've ever seen but carried his hands too low and threw punches a little off balance and unorthodox.  This would not do him any justice vs the Brown Bomber.  Jones Jr is also more of a middle to light heavyweight fighter naturally and strength wise although he did get up to 205 lbs.  Louis would cut off the ring against the fast moving Jones Jr who would not be able to escape.  Jone Jr. would try to throw some off balance punches at Louis who would connect with one of his patented right hand bombs at a wide open Jones Jr in round 3 leaving Jones Jr in a heap on the canvas and unable to beat the count.

  7. The experience of seeing Roy Jones fighting John Ruiz would be a terrible one to use, if you're curious to see how Jones would perform against Joe Louis. Ruiz is not in the same class as Joe Louis. If Jones had picked an opponent who was more slightly faster and slightly more skilled than Ruiz, then we would have seen Jones' defeat long before Jones-Tarver 1 fight. Louis is every bit more skilled than Ruiz, so that would be a horrible fight for Jones, especially when mentioning 15 rounds.

True, Louis probably haven't been in the ring against someone with speed and quickness of Jones. I think Jones would probably get away with some things in the first few rounds, but Louis is smart enough to eventually form a fight plan that would take Jones out. Jones' chin has already been shown that light heavyweights can rattle him, so imagine what Joe Louis could do and it would only take one punch to turn the tide. Considering that this is a prime Roy Jones, with great elusive ability, I'll give him the benefit of lasting longer than many may expect, but I think Louis would KO Jones somewhere between rounds 9 and 11.

  8. Mohammad Ali said it best when he said that Louis was to slow to beat him i think Roy Jones Jr would kill him.he is way to talented.Louis is a bag of sand with a good jab.if billy Conn can take him to the edge then imagine what Jones would do.dont get me wrong for his era Joe Louis was a great champ but he didn't move like Ali did.he would stand right in front of you.Roy would move in and out working the jab occasionally  throwing the hard right.he would never get to roy.i say  Roy  Jones Jr winning a unanimous decision.i was a boxer and the biggest mistake people make when they talk about joe louis is they try to compare his speed with Ali it wasn't that Louis was that fast he was fighting people that were real slow.a faster fighter like jones would destroy louis.take it from me i have boxed for 7 years and i know my boxing.

  9. Interesting match up but I doubt that Jones would be able to do much against louis, Jones carried his hands very low and relied mostly on speed to avoid getting hit, he was flashy and threw very fast flurries, he knew how to move and his reflexes were almost super human, Joe Louis, is considered by many to be one of the greatest if not the greatest heavyweight of all time, he was an intelligent fighter who possessed both technical skill and knock out power, he had underrated hand speed and was very accurate the key difference between these two fighters is the chin, Jones had a glass jaw that crumbled easily once hit, Louis on the other hand had a chin that could take heavy shots from hard hitters like schmelling and baer and still keep going, Jones would probably out point louis in the first few rounds but eventually louis would have figured him out and landed a devastating jab that would send Jones to the canvas and keep him there, trust me on this one, Ruiz was no Joe Louis, this one is not even close.

  10. Louis- best combo KO puncher of all-time

    Jones- glass jaw

    = disaster for Jones

  11. billy conn was naturally bigger than jones jr, which makes all the difference here.

i agree with the masses that the brown bomber finishes it early.

  12. joe louis would of hit jones once and jones would of hit the floor

  13. Joe Louis would win by a KO.....
