Joe Maddon not worried about Toronto Blue Jays-Miami Marlins deal – MLB Update

It seems the Tampa Bay Rays do not have too much to do right now. Manager Joe Maddon was spotted chilling out in California recently. However, as we go deep into the offseason, the Rays will start making their moves.
Maddon and executive Vice President Andrew Friedman have already started discussions and they will be chatting more frequently with the December meetings coming up.
So far this offseason, there has been more talk than action as far as the Rays are concerned. In a press conference last week, Maddon stated that the Rays are not going to react or overreact to the moves Toronto Blue Jays has made.
On Monday afternoon, Major League Baseball’s commissioner Bud Selig approved the 12 player blockbuster deal between the Blue Jays and the Miami Marlins. It is done deal and the Blue Jays will receive several big names from the Marlins including shortstop
Jose Reyes.
"I'm not worried about it," Maddon said in an interview. "We've talked about this before. We've gone through this with other teams, whether it's Boston or New York or whomever with all the different things they do in the offseason.”
He added, "Now Toronto's doing it. But it's about what we do and how we co-habitate and how we make ourselves better. Coming off 90 wins with all the issues that we had last year, that's still pretty impressive."
"I got to meet Joe Namath, John Havlicek and Jerry West in the same year," Maddon revealed his plans for this offseason. "That's a pretty good year."
However, the Rays are not worried about one of the biggest trades in Blue Jays’ history; a deal that could make the American League East Division even more competitive. Maddon does acknowledge the fact the Blue Jays will be one of the toughest opponents
in AL East next season.
He also admitted that the Blue Jays will have an edge over other teams in the Division but just because they acquired good players does not necessarily mean they are going to win, reports tampabay.com.
It will be interesting to see the way the Rays will react to the mega deal that was finalised on Monday.
