Joe Mauer becomes an ambassador for Head & Shoulders
Joe Mauer isn’t ready for the regular season challenge in Major League Baseball but the veteran catcher with the Minnesota Twins is on the rise with a new role in his life.
The player is in Fort Myers, Florida, preparing for the coming season in Spring Training. He’s got a new job as a ball player and happens to reflect on his healthy hair.
The catcher has been declared as the new ambassador for Head & Shoulders and he was very busy on Tuesday, as he was involved in a photo shoot for an advertising promotion.
The new role comes a week after the Twins’ player was involved in a campaign to promote the ‘MLB 11 the Show’ video game, which features him on the cover for the second running year.
Head & Shoulder happens to be the official shampoo for Major League Baseball as well so Mauer is treading on mutual ground when it comes to a promotional campaign. The catcher talked about the constant on and off wear of helmets and gloves.
"Being a catcher, your hair definitely takes a beating. Your head, your hair takes a beating", Mauer said. "I think people associate Head & Shoulders with just being a dandruff shampoo, where it really does take care of your scalp, which then takes care
of the hair. It's kind of a one-stop shop for me after a game and things like that. It's really helped me out and it's easy".
Mauer is working with Pittsburgh Steelers’, Troy Polamalu, who’s also involved with Head & Shoulders. Joe doesn’t have the kind of locks Troy has but he does have follicular attributes that can lure in a lot of attention. The player also has the on-field
popularity that does the trick with him. With a career average of .327 and a players’ leading star in the All-Star voting ballot, Mauer has the right credentials to lead the shampoo product.
"I did hear about Troy's perks that he has. Obviously my hair is not like Troy's. I think he's got his own thing going with that. I don't know, maybe they can do something with my sideburns”.
