Joe Morgan – Nic Strange grab Men’s Doubles title to steal limelight at Slovak Open 2012
Joe Morgan and Nic Strange, the most spirited shuttlers from Wales, put up a staggering show on court and grabbed Men’s Doubles title after thrashing their higher ranked challengers Aleksei Konakh and Yauheni Yakauchuk of Belarus in the final battle of Victor
Slovak Open 2012 on Sunday, September 9, in Slovakia.
The lower ranked Joe and Nic, who were the un-seeded players in the Men’s Doubles main draw of the tournament, showed up their tremendous skills on court and stole the limelight by beating their top seeded rivals in an incredible manner.
The spirited Joe and Nic employed all of their skills on court and kept their rivals under pressure all the way to finish off the final battle in an amazing fashion as they took two games of 24 minutes to claim victory.
The higher ranked Aleksei and Yauheni, in the meanwhile, tried to put up strong show but they were shocked with the aggressive and positive play of their un-seeded rivals and eventually knelt down with a humiliating margin on the board.
Joe and Nic were in tremendous form from the opening points of the contest as they played with confidence and took over the charge of rallies.
Until the mid-game interval in the opening set, Joe and Nic were leading the score board with a huge margin.
After the mid-game interval, Joe and Nic remained consistent in their dominating play as they did not let their higher ranked challengers to narrow the gap at any stage.
Joe and Nic were in full control of rallies and finished off the set with an incredible 21-9 margin on score board.
In the second set, Aleksei and Yauheni played good badminton as they also played positive badminton. They showed wonderful defensive shots and managed to remain close to their impressive rivals until the break.
After the interval, Joe and Nic continued putting up entertaining show and took a reasonable lead by pushing their opponents on back foot. They played impressive game and took the set with a 21-17 score on the board.
Joe and Nic won the title match in a dominating fashion with a wonderful difference of 21-9 and 21-17.
