Joe Perry faces Liu Song, Fergal O’Brien in qualifier at Sheffield: 2011 Australian Goldfields Open
Fen Potter, Joe Perry is waiting for his turn at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield to play in the penultimate qualifying match. He might face Fergal O’Brien or China’s Liu Song in the match but
the Wisbech-born potter is not at all under pressure. Instead, he is ready for the match and seems really confident.
The qualifying session of 2011 Australian Goldfields Open is underway at the academy from Sunday, June 26. So far a couple of matches from the first round have been concluded.
However, 36-year-old Perry is determined to make it to the Last 32 of Australian Goldfields Open 2011 and is ready for any challenge out in front of him. He has already shown a great performance in
first event of PTC and has given a tremendous start to his new season. He has already played both Song and O’Brien, and was quite convincing against them.
While speaking to the reporters, Perry said, “Fergal and Liu play earlier in the week to decide which of them plays me in the final qualifier and whoever gets through I know it will be a very tough
match. I have played Fergal a few times and know he is a very tough competitor and the same can be said for Liu but I will be confident.”
He added, “Having done well up in Sheffield at the PTC a lot of the doubts that had been in my mind are now gone and I am just looking forward to the match.”
Moreover, Perry recently joined On Q Promotions, a player management company, and is sure to bring out positive results with this partnership. The Englishman also believes that after joining the management,
he feels a lot more positive about his game.
“It has left me feeling really positive and shows that my new approach to my game is paying off,” said Perry.
Song and O’Brien are in the second and third round respectively, lined-up in a potential penultimate qualifier match against Perry, who reached the final of Players Tour Championship (PTC) Event 1.
