Joe Perry pleased with his performance at Players Tour Championship Event 1
Players Tour Championship (PTC) Event 1 runner-up, Joe Perry, is quite pleased with his performance in the very first event of 2011-12 Snooker Season. Despite his defeat in the final match at the
hands of Ronnie O’Sullivan, Perry believes he has got a lot more experience and strength to perform a better game-play in the upcoming events of the season.
Perry started his new season with a brilliant performance in PTC Event 1 as he reached to the final of tournament. The Fen Potter made his run to the ultimate stage, beating Sanderson Lam 4-0, Mark
Joyce 4-2, Tom Ford 4-3 and James Wattana 4-0. The 36-year-old Perry defeated Jamie Jones 4-1 in the quarter-final and Graeme Dott 4-2 in the semi-final.
However, Perry could not make an impressive impact against Ronnie O’Sullivan in the final match-up and got whitewashed by The Rocket, 0-4. But despite his loss in the final, The Chatteris potter is
still happy and satisfied with his form as he believes it has brought more maturity and discipline in his game, that will help him in future events.
While speaking to the media, Perry said, “I was really pleased with my performances in Sheffield, although of course I was a bit disappointed not to be able to follow it through. But to be fair Ronnie
had that look in his eye and played some of his best stuff against me.”
He added, “I had chances in the opening two frames but rattled a key red in the first before going into the pack when I was on 40 in the second and he just took it away from me. But I am taking a
lot from my run to the final and I have given myself a great chance of making the final which is what these events are all about really.”
Perry is still in Sheffield as his qualifier for 2011 Australian Goldfields Open is underway at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield. He needs only one victory to surge into the first round of the
tournament.
