Joe Tizzard aiming high for Cue Card – Horseracing Update
Cue Card’s regular jockey, Joe Tizzard, is expecting a fabulous run from the talented gelding in Racing Post Arkle Challenge Trophy Chase at Cheltenham Festival on March 13.
The champion rider claims that Cue Card is packed with momentum and spirit at the moment, and he will be able to unleash unbeaten firepower in the high-voltage contest in order to beat his potential and traditional rival, Sprinter Sacre.
Tizzard reveals that he will fully and truly test the excellent skills of his horse at Cheltenham and make his critics realise that the brilliant runner can thrive at any venue.
The jockey is of the view that Cue Card has been constantly evolving into a tough and solid runner since the very beginning of his career. According to him, Racing Post Arkle is the acid examination of his capabilities.
While speaking to the media today, Tizzard said, “You couldn't not be impressed by Sprinter Sacre and what he has done but I enjoy riding Cue Card from the front and know he gets two and a half, he's proved that, so I'll make it a true test.”
He further told, “He's growing all the time. When he won his bumper at Cheltenham he was just a shell of a horse. He looks fantastic at the moment and I rode him out yesterday morning and he's in superb form.”
The Grade 1 Racing Post Arkle race of 2m distance has 27 entries. Almost all the runners possess enough form and abilities. Thus, it is going to be a rip-roaring competition.
Trained by Colin Tizzard, Cue Card has won 6 out of his total 11 starts to date. The black gelding started his career in January 2010.
The six-year-old last ran on December 31, 2011 at Newbury and won the contest with a big margin. He won first four races of his career in a row.
For Cheltenham Festival, he heads the market for being 9-1 favourite. On the other hand, Sprinter Sacre also holds significant position on the betting card. So, the Racing Post Arkle is supposed to be a heated clash between these two aces.
