  1. well its a tail of another boxer trying to push himself about by thinking he can box at another weight i give him all the luck but he is facing someone a lot older so maybe but at super he is the ultimate no1 ever proven but at light heavy he may have punching power but against a bigger guy especially hopkins hmmi say if hopkins can last then yeah but if he wilts by the 7-8 could go the way of calzaghe!but i will say 60-40 joe

  2. I disagree; I favor Calzaghe over Hopkins, but there is no way that he will knock out B-Hop.  Hopkins has never been stopped and he has only been down twice in his career (the first fight with Segundo Mercado).  He has faced much bigger punchers than Calzaghe and he has stood up to all of them.  Not to mention that Calzaghe is not a big puncher himself- he even joked on his punching power after he beat Mikkel Kessler; he said something about his "slapping punches."  He has been criticized for that in the past.  Hopkins has a great chin, and it will hold up to anything that Calzaghe dishes out.  And he won't be stopped because his heart has never been taken from him in a fight, and I guarantee that Calzaghe will not be able to do that either.

  3. This fight is likely going the distance.  If anyone stops anyone, I think it will be Hopkins stopping Calzaghe.

    Reasoning

    * Calzaghe's first fight outside of Europe (Nerves may likely be a factor)

    * Calzaghe is fighting at 175 for the first time.

    * Hopkins is by far Calzaghe's best opponent.

    * Hopkins has only been down in 1 fight, which was at a high altitude he did not become properly acclimated to.

    * Hopkins is undefeated against southpaws.

  4. I agree Joe will win, but Hopkins can last 12 rounds with pretty much anyone these days.  Calzaghe UD.

***Can't wait for this fight, by the way!!!***

  5. RRJ aint got a clue.

calzaghe will definatly win either a late stoppage or a comfortable points victory. then the excuse will be that hopkins was 43 and past his prime. dont forget calzaghe is no spring chin.

in a way joe is in a no win situation.

  6. no he wont!tough fight to call this. have followed calzaghe career from the early days as i am a welshman i cant see hopkins being able to cope with the speed and workrate of joe but it all depends if joes right hand doesnt break early in the fight as it is prone to do on occasions .if his hands hold up i can see a big win on points for joe.come on boyo u can do it.i will be watching good luck

  7. Certainly not. Hopkins was the underdog for Felix Trinidad, Oscar de la Hoya, Winky Wright and Antonio Tarver - yet he was victorious is all of those fights emphatically. You see, Joe Calzaghe has very brittle hands and if he starts throwing knockout punches he could break his hand and been in deep water. I think Joe will do it on points. I will also add that if there is anyone going to win this by KO it would be Hopkins.

  8. i think hopkins is ready for this after what he sed tht he wud neva lose to a white boy. itll go longa than five rounds. is it on april 19th the fight?

  9. i think the fight will go the distance, but i hope joe takes his head off in the first round im only  interested in this fight for one reason ................I LOVE IT WHEN AMERICANS GET SILENCED AFTER TALKING SO MUCH TRASH!!!!!!

  10. Americans underate Calzaghe because they have only seen a few of his fights, in Britain we have seen his quality for a decade now. I keep hearing "Hopkins is undefeated to Southpaws", well Calzaghe is undefeated to anyone which ever stance they use! Hopkins has lost, 4 times in fact, Calzaghe has never lost. Kessler would beat Hopkins, Calzaghe UD'd him. Lacey would give Hopkins a v.hard time, Calzaghe made him look like he had never been in a ring before! All you brash yanks will realise come April 19th that Hopkins is deluded if he thinks he can boss Calzaghe and make him fight his fight, work rate, fitness and all round boxing skill will win this fight and Calzaghe wins hands down in all of those departments.

  11. calzaghe will win on points, i would like to see roy jones face him after that because he will beat him to then become a legend

  12. B-Hop via KO.

  13. Are you kidding, the best that could happen, in Joe,s case is a draw, other than that, Joe is going to get beaten for the first time. Hopkins and most American boxers are used to Joe,s style of fighting and know how to handle his coming forward style, its just gonna go like the other fat boy, that got trounced by Pretty boy Floyd.

  14. Not in 5 rounds. Maybe a stoppage after 8 rounds but most likely he will win by decision.

  15. I think Joe will win on points. He's broken his hand too many times to be able to generate the power to knock out someone like Hopkins. It should be a good fight though. Come on Joe!!

  16. i dont think he will win within 5 rounds however he will win and he is one of the greatest boxers ever ive been to see him fight several times hes fantastic my son dreams to be as goood as him hes his hero as for experance hes got plenty

  17. i do hopkins will destroy  calzaghe because experience, power and smarts beats speed. calzaghe does not have KO power hopkins does and hopkins is not jeff lacy his a smart fighter so you know he has a full prove game plan to beat him like he did with winky so come April 19 Joe Calzaghe "0" will go.

  18. I think it will go longer than round 5.

  19. i dont think he will do it in 5 but i think he will dominate hopkins and win big on points theres no way joe is gunna lose to a black boy

  20. Calzaghe will put hopkins through tens rounds of pure torture, just like he did lacy and then knock him out. Hopkins is in for a real pasting I'm telling you.

  21. I'm picking Bernard Hopkins to win this one, but if Calazaghe did win it would only be on points, and would only be because BHop is now 43, not because Calazaghe is better. But hopefully Hopkins will KO him in 9.

Roy Jones Jr would certainly  beat Calazaghe now.

Why do people rate Calazaghe so highly? He was a paper champion for 10 years and fought nobody other than a completely washed up Chris Eubank (who would have beaten him easily in his prime). Then he fights Kessler, who was actually a proper champion (WBC and WBA) and beats him and suddenly he is supposed to be some sort of P4P great. He isn't, he's just an overrated average fighter.

  22. I disagree with that statement. If Jeff Lacy and Mikkel Kessler could survive 12 rounds with Calzaghe, then surely a well-seasoned fighter like Bernard Hopkins can last 12 rounds. Hopkins has went 12 rounds with several good or great fighters and he'll do it against Calzaghe, win or lose.

Even if Calzaghe should surprise us all with an early stoppage, he won't do it inside five rounds.

  23. 44-0 (32 K.O.'S) against 48-4-1 (32 K.O.'s)

    Calzaghe :- 73%

    Hopkins :- 60 %

    Who says Calzaghe can't K.O. ????

    I predict Calzaghe in 7 - 8 by way of T.K.O.

"I aint never gonna lose to a white man", if this was said by Calzaghe uproar would have ensued. You can't have your cake and eat it.

  24. Nope

  25. I am going over to watch him, having seen his fight against Kesslar. I have a concern, Calzaghe isn't a knockout merchant, and since when did you win in America on points? At least, given his style, I don't think that the ref. will be able to cramp his style like he did with Hatton. Hope he does it, but I am not confident he will stop Hopkins, more likely outbox him, but then we have to hope that he isn't fiddled out of it.

  26. Joe Calzaghe will take longer to beat Bernard Hopkins, but he will do it comfortably.  All those stupid Americans can't take it when us Brits get a great fighter who is better than all the fighters the good ol' US of A can muster up.  Calzaghe is so underrated by Americans because they've never even seen him fight.   Because he doesn't always knock his opponents out their c**p TV networks don't want to show his fights over there.  I don't know why Joe is going after a washed up old pensioner like Hopkins anyway.  I would think there is someone of a higher quality who could give Joe a bigger challenge, but then again I don't think there is.  Just face it, Calzaghe is a better fighter than all the Americans at a similar weight, Americans you'll just have to deal with it.

  27. If you know boxing and Bernard Hopkins and what he's done and who he has fought your crazy. I hope you don't know a lot about boxing. Do some research

  28. joe is my welsh hero i hope he does it in 2 rounds come on joe ive never really seen hopkins fight thou
