  1. Ali took a better punch than Holmes Ali had faster feet and faster hands than Holmes and Ali was a better boxer all around than Holmes taking all of this into account and we know what Frazier did to Ali in their first fight Frazier knocks Holmes head off in the 9th round it would be a great fight while it lasted

  2. This one's easier than you think.  First,  lets take Frazier in 71 because he was never better.  Frazier 67 would be stopped by Holmes and would have been by Ali had the fought when they were supposed to in 69.   The exile stopped that.

As great as Ali was,  I have always maintained that, because styles make fights,  you can name 10 fighters whom ALi would beat and Holmes would beat them easier and more decisively.  Ali would decision Holmes.

The reason Holmes would win easier is because he holds the same advantage over any fighter that Ali holds.   Holmes is not as fast but fast enough to beat you the same way Ali would.  He doesnt have Ali's foot work but enough to remain a step ahead of anyone else.   Joe Louis would be the exception.

I think most who know can now agree that Larry, in 1980,  was at his best.   Like I've said many times, (someone once copied it word for word here),  Holmes never knew what to expect from ALi so he was at his best at that time.

Frazier gets a lot of credit for his win over Ali but what has he REALLY done besides the win over ALI.  He has accomplished some things but look at his career minus the Ali win and you will see a MUCH better view of how he measures up against other champions.

Ali was a bit past his prime when he lost to Frazier.  By this time, his foot work wasn't much better than Holme's would be.  He took a slightly better punch but he had a better jab than Ali.  Prime Ali was faster but Holmes was closer to equal to ALI 71.  The difference is that Holmes hit quite a bit harder.

Any way you can see Ali beating an opponent  Holmes would do the same but easier.   Ali had the one style Holmes would not be able to deal with.   Ali 67 would keep Holmes off balance and take a decision.   Ali 71 and beyond is a different story.   Larry was much closer in terms of ability.

Larry would hit Joe At LEAST as often as Ali did.   The difference is that Larry would hit him harder.  Joe would have his moments but look at all the damage Ali did to him.

I MAINTAIN THAT EVEN FORMAN WOULD NOT HAVE CRUSHED FRAZIER SO EASILY HAD FRAZIER NEVER FOUGHT ALI FIRST.

That fight took A LOT out of Frazier.  Joe was never the same.

Larry would do the same kind of damage,  only more of it.

    Holmes by TKO in 14

  3. Joe beat Ali, and gave him a good fight the two times he lost.

If you consider each fighter's abilities at his prime I doubt that Holmes would hold up better than Ali.

It has to be Frazier in a decision.

  4. Frazier was a beast until Foreman softened him up. Holmes was always susceptable to getting caught with a big shot now and then. I have to think that Frazier would come from slightly behind late to floor Holmes and win by split decision or even a very late TKO.

  5. IMO, both great champions. Class, boxing savvy, hard to discourage and yes, tough. Holmes at close to 6'4" and a long, snapping , but strong jab and also utilizing a very affective right uppercut. Joe Frazier, best at 203-206 lbs, had a limited reach, primarily using the big left hook, along  with a bob and weave style. IMO, Holmes uses the jab to outscore Frazier. Holmes by decision.

  6. wow i would have to go with frazier.holmes proved who he was in the late 80's loseing to spinks twice and getting knocked out by tyson.spinks was little.if you ever wanted to know what would happen watch the tyson vs holmes fight.holmes got knocked out.frazier would do the same thing.holmes made a career of fighting bums.like cooney.I don't think it was holmes fault.there just wasn't any really good fighters like in the late 60's and early 70's.frazier fought them all sometimes he won sometimes he lost.but in the end if he could give Ali such a hard time then imagine what he would do to holmes who was slower.i say 8th round KO for the winner and still the heavyweight champion smoking joe frazier

  7. This would have been a great fight and much like the Frazier vs Ali fights and the Holmes vs Norton fight.  As the old saying goes, styles make fights and Joe Frazier always seemed to rise to the occasion anytime he fought Ali with his bobbing and weaving style looking to get inside of the jab and not afraid to eat a few to get in his vicious hooks to the head and body.  Holmes had one of the greatest jabs in ring history and was probably one of the most underrated champions of all time.  This fight could truly go either way and it would be tempting to just call it a draw because I believe it would be that close.  Frazier is the harder puncher with that left hook, chins are about equal, Holmes is the better boxer of course with that jab of his.  This fight would come down to stamina especially if we are talking about a 15 round fight which I will assume.  I believe that the early rounds would be mostly Holmes with a few anxious moments.  The middle rounds would be even with Joe coming on strong.  Joe would be behind on points but would just about even it up at the end.  Holmes by a very controversial split decision with both men exhausted at the end.  In the rematch, Frazier would win a decision.
