joe louis was a great fighter but i am tired of people calling him the greatest.he would only fight freaking bums.put your hearts away and look at the stats.he once defended his title against a guy named tony galento, tony was 5'9" over weight a hack loser, but yet he put louis on the mat in there fight.he almost lost his title to billy conn A FREAKING MIDDLEWEIGHT.the only thing that saved louis was the fact that it was a 15 round fight.if it was 12 louis would have gotten his @$$ kicked.so what he beat jersey joe walcott.walcott got robed in there fight.you can't call a man that faced that many bums the greatest.

Everyone knows the greatest of all time is ALI.he has ko wins over FOREMAN,FRAZIER,SHAVERS,COOPER,QUARRY,LI... TWICE,PATTERSON TWICE,AND RON LYLE.AND HE WAS THE FIRST AND FOR A LONG TIME THE ONLY 3 TIME HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMP

  1. First of all Billy Conn was a Light Heavy, and heavyweights where smaller back then. Joe Louis was only  6'1, 190-200 pounds at his heaviest.

Yet Joe Louis beat 6'4 and heavy hitting Max Baer, who hit so hard he killed a man in the ring. He beat many fighters bigger then him.

And Ali had his share of controversal wins, Ken Norton got flat out robbed against Ali, and and fighting bums. Wepner? And if going to pull out Louis almost getting beat by Light Heavy, Alid got beat by blown up Light Heavy Leon Spinks, who only had 7 proffessional fights.

Ali compition benifitted from fact that he was suspended for almost four years which allowed other fighters to step in. Plus Frazier and Norton become BIG because they beat Ali.

Louis on other hand dominated the division for years which did not allow other oppoents to shine.

And as far as Louis being considered one of the best HWs, that is because he was the most complete HWs. He was basically good at everything. He was fast, hit hard, had solid fundamentals, ect.

Ali had a lot of flaws in his fighting which got away with because of his speed. But when his speed went, which first thing to go for a boxer, he suffered. His habbit of keeping his hands low caused him to get hit repeatidly in the head, and getting jaw broken by Norton. His lack of skills for inside fighting allowed Frazier to bully him around. He also was not a body puncher, he was not a heavy hitter, and did not body puncher, which allowed oppoents to stay strong for rounds on end.

  2. well my friend ali beat shavers by a controversial 15 round decision for starters, and he won because of a good 15th round and all his gimmicks and tricks to sway the judges. foreman was inexperienced and gave up, he wasnt knocked out. liston was past his prime and undertrained. the frazier win is legit, although ali didnt beat him in the dominating fashion your suggesting. second, louis didnt have anyone to fight, its not his fault there was no one left after he cleared out the division. its not fair to say anyone is better than anyone else unless they fight them in there prime, which will obviously never happen with louis and ali
