  1. Excellent question jack t, the first 3 rounds both fighters would be wary, louis of fraziers left hook and frazier on his heels because of the blistering six punch combinations on the inside. After six rounds, louis would start hitting frazier easly but frazier ties up and comes back with wild three punch hooks and pressing his nose into the chest of louis looking for the uppercut. By round nine, louis is really coming on and hitting frazier flush and frazier is frustrated, not landing many big punches. They both have a breather in the tenth, then the eleventh, frazier boars in and drops louis with a left hook. Louis is up by the count of six then jabs away for a minute then unleahes two left hooks and a right uppercut that drops frazier onto the seat of his pants. He's up at eight but fraziers eyes are glazed. Louis charges in with a 10 to 12 punch barrage and the referee stops the fight with 20 seconds left in the eleventh round. Joe Louis TKO 11th RD over Joe Frazier.

  2. I see this fight going another direction both fighters in there prime Louis the classic stand up boxer puncher Frazier a ball of furry booms away. Round one Frazier comes out on the attack bobbing and attacking Louis body like he did Ali in the first fight Louis does not look real comfortable being forced back two minutes the round Louis attempts to get some respect he moves to the centre of the ring and he meets Frazier's aggression with his own he throws a 4 punch combo at Frazier's head all 4 punches miss Joe takes one steep back and Frazier uncoils a left hook Like the one he caught Ali with that sent Ali down. Louis is down and and his head is under the bottom rope he is not moving the ref picks up the count at three 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 it,s over Joe Frazier wins by a spectacular knock out in the opening round. By Frazier winng this fight it sets up the super fight with Rocky Marcanio

  3. This is a good fight that is not very often talked about.  Both are about the same weight, around 205.  Louis is the harder one shot puncher.

Frazier's smothering style would trouble Louis at first but it wouldn't take Louis long to find an answer.  With Frazier you already KNOW what you're in for.  It's just a matter of whether or not you have an answer for it.

There are two ways to beat Joe Frazier.  Catch him early, like Forman did, or Out-last him, like Ali did.   The later is MUCH more difficult with the Prime Frazier.   Frazier lost a LOT in the first ALI fight.  He was never the same after that.

The way to beat Joe Louis is to keep ahead of him with footwork.  You also must be able to take punches because he CAN hurt you.  Keeping your distance and catching him off guard is the key.  Louis never did perfect that FLAW that allowed Max Schmeling to defeat him.   He had a bad habit of dropping his jab after throwing it, leaving him susceptible for the over-hand right.

After Schmeling, most were unable to take advantage of the flaw as Louis did improve but not totally.  Frazier does not possess any of the tools to beat Louis in a tactical way.  There IS another way to beat Louis.  You have to have the strength, speed and stamina to SMOTHER him and nullify his power.  If you can't get him from outside you better be able to take a shot and get enside.  It also helps to stop Louis from hitting you.  No easy feat.

Frazier also does not possess ALL that is needed to do the trick by force.  He CERTAINLY will not out-box Louis.  He will have moderate success in smothering Louis.  This will not last.  Frazier gains momentum in the middle rounds.

In the early going Frazier comes out bobbing.  Louis uses the jab but learns early that Smokin Joe CAN be hit.  "Jab-Jab-Right-Hook get's Frazier's attention.  Frazier fires back with a hook to the jaw that shakes Louis.  Louis nearly goes down but holds on.  Frazier is trying to land another hook but Louis is now blocking them, thus lessening their effect.

In round 2 Louis lands a blistering combination, Jab-Jab-Cross-Hook, which backs Frazier to the ropes.  In retaliation, Frazier lands a destructive left hook off the ropes.  BOOM! it finds Louis' jaw and down goes the Brown Bomber!.  Louis rises on shaky legs as Frazier bores in, looking to finish the job.   Louis survives the round.

Frazier is throwing caution to the wind as he bores in and lands a series of body shots.  Louis lands a right uppercut and left hook on the inside, which straightens Frazier up.  Frazier is now firing the hook with conviction.  However, Louis has figured an answer for it now. As Frazier fires the hook, Louis is on the inside.  He covers up, ducking inside, allowing the hook to land near harmlessly on the top of his head and shoulder.  This leaves him on the inside to land short punches.  Holyfield later used this tactic against Mike Tyson to perfection.

While on the inside,  Louis does something most of Frazier's opponents never did.   He's landing effectively to the body.  He's punching in the same spot each time.   Here are Two CRUCIAL FACTS that stand out.

One:  Joe Louis is one of the smartest boxers in history.   He rarely makes the same mistake twice.

TWO: Frazier rarely changes his style.  You KNOW what you're in for from bell one.

Frazier's problem is that if you can take his best punch and solve his style you can beat him.

In round 4 a left sales harmlessly over Louis' head.  BOOM!  the short right lands flush on the chin.  DOWN GOES FRAZIER!.  He rises but is clearly hurt.   Here is the BIG difference between Forman and Louis.   Forman punches harder but he's NOT the smartest fighter.    He never learned how to use his power.  Louis, on the other hand is the most economical puncher in the business.  He doesn't waste time.

Frazier is clearly hurt.  Louis closes in with a 5 punch combination.  Hook-Hook-Uppercut-Hook-Right.

    Fight's over

Louis by KO in round 4
