  1. A blight on our great game, we are playing a contact sport aren't we? Change the rules ASAP and stop this c**p.  As for Brian Royal to say he thought it was fantastic!! maybe that is why he has always been overlooked for a senior coaching job, he has no idea

  2. As richo said last night on before the game. It wasn't a 'cheap tactic' it was just outsmarting the rules of the game.

It wasn't our fault essendon kicked 6 behinds to lose the game :)

  3. as much as no1 wants that sorta thing happening, its was very smart by bowden and like david schwartz(or howeva u spell it) sed on game day live essendon shouldve just givin a free kick away so the ball would come up the field

  4. Look, there's nothing against what he did in the rules, and if he was on my team I would've wanted him to rush those behinds. It was pretty low, and I think the AFL needs to award three points for rushed behinds like they do in the Nab Cup. Richmond won't make finals, and if they do, I hope I don't see that again!

  5. I think he did the right thing.

I mean it wasn't illegal. He was just running down the clock. it was just good understanding of the game.

  6. No it wasn't cheap. It was extremely  smart. You do what you can to win the game, and they did, it was completely within the rules. Great play by Bowden.

Yes, I' love to see my team win a grand final like that. I'd love to see my team win a grand final by forfeit! We haven't won one in 54 years!!

  7. I would think it is legal version of time wasting.

To all the Essendon supporters that are upset, if Dustin Fletcher did concede two behinds and that won the match, Essendon people would not be upset.

Another answer wrote it was out-smarting the rules.

    Spot on.

  8. **As frustrating as it is for the opposition to watch, if your team was in that situation and the scores were as close as they were then I think other players would do the same thing.

It's within the rules and it's just another way to run down the clock.**

  9. I do like the Tigers but the incident has left a sour taste.

It was a very cheap tactic. What he did showed no class or courage, and is that what we are really paying money to watch? I thought we were supposed to be watching the best in the business, not gutless cowards! Can't Tigers players back themselves enough to mark the ball when it's kicked to them? I don't blame the guy for doing what he could to win the game but it was done very distastefully, the way he looked at the opposition and backed himself to the line!

However what he did was within the rules but I would have to say that this is one situation where I see the need for a rule that would give the opposition 3 points for a rushed behind, like in the NAB cup.
