Joel Diaz: I am always in peak condition – Boxing News
Joel Diaz Jr, who is just 20 years old, will have his life’s first ever main event on Saturday, June 02. The pugilist from Palmdale will headline the headline against Guillermo Sanchez, hailing from Puerto Rico. The event will be held at the Emerald Wueen
Casino in Tacoma, Washington and is being promoted by Halquist Productions. In his recent interview regarding the event, Diaz expressed his excitement saying he is eager to enter the ring and make a mark in history.
Diaz currently stands as an unbeaten fighter with 8 wins, out of which 8 came in through knockouts. On the other hand, Guillermo Sanchez stands with 13 wins, 6 losses, 1 tie and 5 knockouts. The bout between the both will be a ten round one.
When asked how he feels regarding being in a main event and his preparation, Diaz answered in an exciting tone, “I’m very excited about it. My conditioning is oustanding right now. I am ready to put on an exciting performance. I’m always in peak condition.
Since signing with my promoter Boxing 360 I have been very busy with them getting me fights and I’m constantly in the gym in prepartion for those fights. The promoter has done his job so I have to do mine now whether my fights are 10 rounds, more, or less.
In my TV fight with Robb I learned that I need to pace myself so that I dont burn out and have something left in the tank should the fight go the distance. It’s no gurantee that I am going to stop every opponent I fight in the first few rounds. Especially
as I continue to step up in competition.”
The unbeaten pugilist was then asked if he has made any changes to his team since his ShoBox win. He answered positive saying Abel Sanchez is his new lead trainer and this will be his third fight under him. He expressed satisfaction over Abel Sanchez’s training
method saying that he has taught quite a lot of new tricks to him. He added that he is currently training at the Wild Card Gym owned by Hall of Famer trainer Freddie Roach.
Diaz lastly said that he will try his level best to ensure victory on June 02.
