Joel Diaz: I think Timothy held back a little on his activity – Boxing News
Julio Diaz, sparring partner of Timothy Bradley, believes the unbeaten American was sluggish against Manny Pacquiao due to his feet injuries.
In his recent interview, Joel Diaz claimed, “I know he would have been a lot more active, a lot more aggressive and he would have done a lot more work. I think Timothy held back a little on his activity due to those injuries.”
He added, “He caught a little more punches than he should have because he couldn’t move as he wanted. When I saw the fight, I was like, ‘Why is he staying like that?’ Instead of angling out of the way, he would just cover up. Later on I found out, he had
no feet. Everybody had their own opinion towards it. At the end of the day, it was the judges who scored the fight and Timothy worked hard and he did his job.”
According to Joel, the controversial decision was not in Bradley’s hand and that Bradley gave his best and he won.
When asked about Bradley’s temperament, Joel stated that Bradley was really ready for the fight. He added that Bradley was sharp and he did great with his counter punching and his timing.
Bradley won the WBO welterweight title from Manny Pacquiao on June 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The victory was considered a controversial one by most fans and analysts. Bolton proud Amir Khan called it a robbery for Pacquiao, whereas Oscar de la Hoya
believed Bradley lost.
Since June 9, a lot has been said about Bradley’s performance against Manny. Fans are demanding a rematch but the Filipino fighter seems to be contended with the decision. Pacquiao met Bob Arum last week and instead of asking for a rematch, he asked for
a match against WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather. While fans want Pacquiao to bring the WBO title back, it seems like the Filipino is hoping to get Mayweather and then finally hang his gloves.
