Joel Diaz: We are the victims here man – Boxing News
Joel Diaz, trainer for Timothy Bradley, believes he and his fighter had nothing to do with the results and that they are being victimized for nothing. After a week of silence, Diaz attacked back at fans, analysts, writers and fighters who have been blaming
Bradley for the controversial results.
In his recent interview, Diaz stated, “We are the victims here, man. People are attacking us like we had something to do with it. We had nothing to do with it. All we did was our job.” He then stated his concerned regarding Bradley, “I talked to him yesterday.
He told me, ‘You want to know how I feel? I feel depressed. I feel mad about it. I totally lost the love for the sport. We're being attacked like it's our fault.'”
Diaz insisted that his fighter gave his best in the ring to the world’s most explosive fighter and he deserves credit for that. According to Diaz, the judges scored the fight and Bradley had nothing to do with it. Reacting to how fans think the fight was
fixed he said, “We didn't go to the swap meet and say, ‘Who wants to be a judge for this fight?' They're professional people who saw the fight.”
After Bradley won the WBO welterweight title from Manny Pacquiao via split decision, most fans, critics, fighters, analysts and writers the world felt the decision was a robbery. Throughout the fight, Pacquiao was in control and they all thought it was a
completely one-sided fight. However, when the results were announced everyone was taken by shock. Even Pacquiao believed he had won the fight and was surprised when the results were announced.
Certainly, Bradley had nothing to do with it but since he was the one to defeat the Pac-man via such a controversial decision, he is facing the wrath the Filipino’s fans from all around the world. For now, Joel Diaz feels that even if the judges were wrong,
he and his fighter has nothing to do with it. According to him, Bradley did a great job and he should be appreciated for it instead of being hated.
