Joey Aiuppa's Death?

does anyone here know when joseph aiuppa died, or if it was in 1996, or if his wife's name was Anna? please, if anyone can tell me what they know about him, that would be great, and, fyi, to tell you why I want to know this, i'm doin a lil research. I don't know what he would be to me, but he was my grandfather's cousin, in sicily. so, i just wanna know a lil more about him. thanks everybody!

  1. Are you talking about the Chicago mobster named Joey Aiuppa? If that's the case, he was a fixture in the Cicero mob that was founded by Al Capone. He rose up under Sam Giancana (of the Kennedy conspiracy fame) and was sent to prison in the 80s for skimming money from Las Vegas casinos. He died in Elmhurst around 1997 and was 89 at the time. That makes him born in 1907 (hadn't had his birth yet in 1997). They let him out of prison to die so that he could have a smidge of dignity.

    He had a nice house in River Forest and it was shown on TV a lot when he was convicted. I know that he served time in the federal pen in Rochester MN. Like most mobsters, they worked very hard to keep their families off camera. They were always worried about retribution against them through their families. There is an obituary index that includes Anna Dizonna Aiuppa. That might be his wife, but I can't prove it.
