points with Paris Saint-Germain and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 at the top of the table.
Not many were expecting the nine-time champions of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 to perform this well this season. And looking at their league position in the previous season, Elie Baup’s side has done exceptionally well this time around.
Joey Barton, who has made 7 Ligue 1 appearances for the French club so far, is pleased with the way things are going for the club at the moment and has backed OM to go all the way. While talking to reporters, the 30-year-old stated that Marseille have done
really well so far and the fact that they have been playing on more than one fronts, the players need to have a good rest.
The controversial midfielder added that after an impressive first half of the season, Les Phoceens need to continue their fine form and they need to perform even better in the future as the second half of the season will be more difficult.
"What is important is to have a good rest, the second half of the season will be difficult", he told La Provence, reflecting upon the league’s winter break.
On a question regarding Marseille’s activities in the transfer market, Barton said that few players are expected to arrive at Stade Velodrome and it will be a good thing for the club.
"There will be the arrival of some players", he continued talking about Marseille’s preparation in the upcoming mercato.
The 30-year-old added that every player at the club believes that Marseille can become champions at the end of the season and they will do everything to achieve that feat.
"And we will do everything we can to be champions."
