The controversial midfielder has shed some light on the infamous incident in his last match with Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314, which led to his 12-match suspension by the Football Association
The 30-year-old received a straight red for elbowing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vincent-Kompany-c36184.
The FA issued two charges of violent conduct against him, and banned him for twelve matches. Barton has now secured a move to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 on a season-long loan, but is ineligible to play in Ligue 1 until November.
However, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international has now tried to clarify the situation.
While talking to reporters, the former Newcastle United player conceded that it was one of those moments where you just couldn’t control your temper.
Queens Park Rangers’ survival in the top tier was dependent on the match against Manchester City, and Barton couldn’t stand the thought of getting relegated.
"I completely let myself down but it's not a rational situation. I knew we could be relegated, they could win the league and I'm captain," he told reporters.
The 30-year-old added that he doesn’t enjoy the best of the relationships with English press, and he knew that there would be a lot of criticism after the red card incident. The Marseille midfielder was under immense pressure and he just couldn’t handle
it well at that moment.
"There's a bit of a media spotlight on me so if we go down, I'm going to take a lot of s***. I was already getting it on Twitter so pressure started building and I didn't handle it well."
Joey Barton said that he can’t stand injustice and it was really harsh from the referee to show him a red card. Tevez played his part well and the Englishman failed to control his anger, that led to all that.
"My inner chimp doesn't work well with injustice, it reacts too quickly. Tevez has done what he's done, I have reacted and everybody knows the aftermath."
Joey Barton is expected to make his Ligue 1 debut in November, and the England international wants to make his mark in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899.
