While talking to reporters, the former Newcastle United player stated that English football is very different from French football. In England, games are played with a lot of intensity and players in the English Premier League work really hard on the pitch.

"There is a big difference in mentality. English players, English clubs are working very hard, the training takes place with a great tempo, high intensity, but in France, the game is much more based on tactics and technique.”
Praising the footballing system in France, the 30-year-old said that not many leagues follow French system which is sad. The system with a sporting director, a president and a coach, is much better than the rest.
“I think it doesn't work as well as in France and elsewhere in Europe, the system with a sporting director, a president and a coach, is better.
Joey Barton added that it’s very difficult for a manager to run a club in England as there are so many problems on every level. The former Manchester City midfielder added that if he ever owns a club, he will use the French system, as he believes that the
