The player professed his love for Marseille via his twitter account after Les Phoceens beat Montpellier Herault last night at the Mosson.
“Marseille has won again. Hopefully, QPR and Marseille can finalise the deal in the next few days. My heart is already in the Velodrome. I only want to play in Marseille. This is the place for me. I hope to move on with my career, with my life. If that is
in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899, so be it. I don’t want to be disrespectful to QPR but enough is enough.”
However, the player’s future at Loftus Road is very uncertain after he received a 12-game suspension, thanks to his antics during the last day of the last season. And, QPR manager, Mark Hughes, chose not to include the player’s name in his 25-man squad for
the first half of the current campaign.
Marseille know all about Barton’s situation and are willing to take their chances on the hot-headed Englishman who finds it hard to stay away from the media spotlight. Reports claim that the London club is keen on signing Stephane Mbia from Marseille and
would be willing to throw Barton in the deal as well.
However, Barton’s transfer to Marseille is still not confirmed. Initially, it was expected that the former Manchester City man will be able to play in the Ligue 1. However, the LFP is willing to respect FA’s verdict on the player which means that even if
he signs for Marseille, Barton will sit out the next 10 games.
While talking to Canal Plus, Marseille coach, Elie Baup admitted that the suspension makes things complicated but added that he would like to have a player like Barton in his squad.
“As far as the problem is concerned, he has a ten-game suspension to serve. He is a player of character, in a team, you need a character who is heard,” said Baup.
