The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international believes that the game against Les Gones could potentially be a six pointer in the battle for the Ligue 1 crown and Marseille need to win on Wednesday in order to move to the top of the table.
Joey Barton, who made his Ligue 1 debut at the weekend after completing his twelve-match ban imposed on him by the English FA, is confident that OM have what it takes to hand Lyon their second defeat of the season and deny them a chance to grab the top spot.
While talking to reporters, the 30-year-old stated that Wednesday’s match is very important in many aspects. First, it will allow Marseille to grab the top spot and secondly, it will increase the gap between Les Phoceens and Remi Garde’s side.
"This is a six-pointer that can allow us to take the lead in Ligue 1," the Englishman told reporters.
The former Newcastle United player added that such games are very important and can decide the rest of the season for the respective sides.
"There are games that are really important and can decide the rest of the season."
Comparing French football with English football, Barton said that there are a lot of differences between the two and Premier League is more direct and fast. While Ligue 1 is more tactical and they follow a different system here.
"I see a lot of differences between the two. The Premier League is a little less tactical, but more direct.”
The midfielder added that the reason why the Premier League is the most watched league in the world is that it is more direct and a bit more dramatic. There are usually a lot of goals in England and it is faster than Ligue 1.
"As a viewer, I prefer the game a little more direct, a bit more dramatic, and that is why the Premier League is the most watched in the world because there are many more goals and it goes faster."
