The 30-year-old moved to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314, and has set his sights on emulating Chris Waddle’s success at Stade Velodrome.
Chris Waddle is another Englishman, who joined the Rhone giants from Tottenham Hotspur in 1989. The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international went on to make over hundred appearances for Les Phoceens, scoring 22 goals in the process.
Waddle spent three seasons at Stade Velodrome and picked up three Ligue 1 titles, and made a name of himself in France.
And Joey Barton wants to follow in the footsteps of the former Newcastle United winger, and has set his sights on winning titles with Marseille.
The 30-year-old, who is ineligible to play until November because of the 12-match ban imposed on him by the FA, praised Chris Waddle exploits in the Ligue 1.
Barton said that it is hard for an Englishman to play abroad but Waddle was an exception. He won three league titles with OM and it’s an amazing achievement.

The former Manchester City midfielder added that he is here to win titles, and he has a perfect role model in form of Chris Waddle, who has achieved so much in France.

Calling Waddle magical, Barton said that his fellow countryman was voted second best player in Marseille’s history, which is simple amazing.
"Magic Chris was voted the second best player in the club’s history, so I’d love to have just a small part of his success and he is an example to follow.”
The 30-year-old admitted that he has had several problems in past but claimed that he has learned from his mistakes. Joey Barton is only looking to the future and wants to be a success at Stade Velodrome.
