Joey Cora faces tough task of managing Miami Marlins in five games - MLB Update

With Ozzie Guillen out for five games, Joey Cora will be the stand in manager and thus five games down the line will witness him preparing the strategies and getting the best out of players.
The kind of personality he has can inhibit his quest in many ways. Hardly a person who will communicate with players at length, how Cora changes himself for the task ahead will be interesting to observe.
The fact Miami Marlins have lost their first game without Ozzie Guillen, opinions exploring reasons for the defeat are likely to reach at his ineptitude for the task.
Meanwhile, Guillen has managed to illicit support from his team-mates who believe that every person can be prone to sensitive issues.
Praising his acknowledgment of the incident and later issuance of an apology, they call it time worth taking lessons from him.
''It's really a hard time for him and his family,'' said Heath Bell the closer. ''He can only be a better person out of it. Like he said, if he doesn't learn from this, he's stupid. That's what he said.''
Even Joey Cora was sympathetic of him. Believing in sincerity of his apology, he said Guillen will never think about saying anything like this again in his life.
''This one was big and he felt it from the beginning,'' said Cora. ''He got shaken, he felt it. After he analyzed what happened, in retrospect, he wouldn't have said what he said.”
Analysis of the Marlins’ loss against Philadelphia Phillies suggests that they actually missed Guillen. Clueless without a plan, hitters and base runners struggled throughout the game.
Although it is the players that matter, the kind of co-ordination needed to amass runs was not there, something a good manager plays an important role to bring about.
With four more games without Guillen, Marlins will be looking to minimise the prospective damage.
Joey Cora will do well to walk up to players and do proper communication of the strategy he is to follow. Complacency on this front will only cost Marlins in the form of poor utilisation of resources in the field.
