Joey Gase renews contract with Jimmy Means Racing for 2013 NASCAR season – NASCAR news
It has been confirmed that Joey Gase and veteran NASCAR driver Jimmy Means will extend their accord from 2012 Nationwide Series to the upcoming season as well.
“It’s amazing. I just have to thank Jimmy and everybody for giving me this opportunity,” Gase said while talking to The Gazette on Monday this week.
Gase raced in 18 events of 2012 Nationwide Series, 12 events being with Jimmy Means Racing (JMR) while the remaining with Go Green Racing. In Pioneer Hi-Bred 250, Subway Jalapeño 250, Food City 250, Kentucky 300, OneMain Financial 200, O'Reilly Auto Parts
Challenge and Ford EcoBoost 300, Gase managed a finish between 31st and 37th places on the grid. History 300, F.W. Webb 200 and Kansas Lottery 300 brought better results for Gase. He finished 25th, 27th and career best 19th in these three races respectively.
“Joey really stepped up for us at the end of the year. We made some races that were very competitive and hard to make. We ran some really good cars. I think he impressed a lot of people,” Means said, commenting on how he felt about Gase’s performance in
2012 Nationwide Series while driving for JMR. In 2013 Nationwide Series, Gase will be driving the No. 52 JMR Chevrolet on a full-time schedule.
Over 2 seasons, Gase has raced in 23 races making his debut at Iowa Speedway, his home-track on August 6, 2011. 2013 will be his third Nationwide season and he seems very optimistic about it and plans to give his best on the race track. To make things easier,
Gase is comfortable racing for JMR.
“We had to race our way into last year. I like Jimmy a lot and he likes me. The whole team works well together. We’re going to try it out again this year and hopefully it will be even better.” Gase said.
Means, while talking about the way Gase went about the job, praised the 19-year-old Iowa driver. He said Gase knew how to use the equipment at his disposal in a professional manner. Means further added that the young driver had great knowledge of the sport
and did things with a positive frame of mind.
