  1. i had no idea.  i think theyre moving him up too fast especially sense the other drivers  will be in the chase by then. i think its not a good idea, let him play in nationwide for the rest of the season then go cup next year.

  2. Good for the kid!! Do you what number he will drive?

  3. Sooner better than later I think... I don't know how he will do truthfully, considering we don't know who his crew chief or pit crew will be yet. If they carry over the Nationwide crew, then that would be a plus for him I think.

    Logano finishes 22nd @ Richmond

  4. honestly thats great but the boy can drive anyway so i dont really see what would be different at this track, he will just be with the top drivers instead of in the nationwide series, anyway we'll be seeing more of him next year anyway so might as well get started now and get ready for his cup ride in 09

  5. If JGR really intends to put him in the 20 next year then he needs to get some experience under his belt this year. I think it's a good move on their part.

  6. Awesome thanks for the news. I think he'll do ok, top 20. He'll know to stay out of the way of chase drivers. I don't think it's too fast because he's already shown he can adapt very quickly and he's been testing these cars for Gibbs for a couple years now, in between his regular driving duties.

  7. It will definitely be interesting to see how he does. I don't think that it's too fast but I think it might be a lil more pressure than what he needs for his Sprint Cup debut, I mean it's enough pressure running your first race when you're in the spotlight as much as he is already, but now he also has to deal with racing around the chase driver on top of all that? Maybe a lil much. I'm not saying he can't do it, I'm just saying he would probably finish better if under different circumstances.

  8. Thanks for the info. I think it's a good idea to give him some cup time. He is headed there full time eventually, so some experience will be helpful. I am more worried about him going full time in cup too soon. Can't wait to see how he does in Richmond.

  9. I think putting him in a cup race is a good idea, but not Richmond. Why put him in the last race before the Chase? He has never driven at the cup level, or against competitors driving the COT. I think he leaves 42 other drives at risk to get wrecked.. And I know that any of the other drivers can wreck themselves or other people, but I think this makes the risk that much greater.

  10. if hes good he will be ok if not hes gonna be another Casey Mears

  11. i think it's a good idea and that richmond IS the track to do it at. at any track before then it is possible to influence the outcomes of more people in their chase hopes than it is at richmond. by the time they get there, most of the chase drivers will already be locked in - at least half, and more as the race goes on. if logano started next week and happened to get involved with someone mid-pack in chase contention in some way that knocked them out of the race, that could affect the "chaser" much more negatively by the time richmond rolls around.

and anytime after richmond is even worse. not only is the racing "different" - how many stories have we read about the "multiple races within a race" once the chase starts - but ruining one or more team's days who by then are already "chasing" the championship could be devastating. for example, if at richmond any new driver were to accidentally take out any of the top five or six, no big deal - the points would be reset the next week. not so if it happened at any race after richmond.

  12. I thought that at first too, Harvick 29Fan... Why risk putting him into the race before the beginning of the Chase?

But, the more I thought about it, when is a good time for him to get his 1st Cup Start? If it isnt Richmond, is it DURING the Chase? Which would be worse, to take out a contender for 12th and last spot in the Chase, or to take out a contender for the Championship once they actually make it into the top 12 and going for the Championship?

There is no real correct answer here. They want to get him some experience prior to taking over the 20 next year, and there is only 14 races left in the season.
