I usually do a jog on weekends or a run around my school during weekdays, but I am noticing for me that I have to get up earlier so that I can have an enjoyable run, otherwise the heat become unbearable at dawn.

What other times of the day do you recommend?

  1. When does the coolest time of day occur?

Weather Station - Frequently Asked Questions

Generally, just before sunrise. During the night, long-wave terrestrial radiation is lost to space, and the longer it depletes the colder it will become. Radiational cooling occurs during the night and is particularly effective on clear nights during winter when nights are longest and radiational cooling is allowed to continue for a longer period of time (more time for heat loss).

  2. In summer, it is definitely easier to run in the morning. But, if you have time in the afternoon/evening, you can try this:

Wear light running shirt (Like the Nike DryFit) and run with a bottle of cold water. Pour some water to your head and soak the running shirt before you start to run and pour some more water when it becomes hot from running and you should be OK.

  3. I recommend mornings for two reasons.  a) the running benefits stay with you during your day i.e. metabolism, etc. b) depending on where you live, pollution is typically lower in the morning than in the evening.  This to me is one of the biggest benefits.

Some people are more in control of their diet in the morning so that you can have a light snack.  Some people go out at lunch and eat too much and then feel horrible during their run.  Some people have trouble sleeping if they run too late in the evening.  Also it is easier to to run because it is the first thing that you do.  Something may come up and you skip.

  4. On the weekends b4 11 and on week day after school some time around 4

  5. one hour before dawn or several hours after sunset!

  6. I usually run late afternoon or early evening. This way is a great time to end my stressfull day and take it out on the pavement- plus it is cooler and less busy with traffic.

  7. Maybe  I'LL Go  At    Like  12:00 Noon

  8. EHH.. ACTUALLY, I AM A COUCH POPTATOE. BUT SOME TIMES I DO GO WALKING AT NIGHT.

  9. Now that is is summer it is going to be harder to find a cooler time of day to run. I personally run in the late afternoon in the summer. Make sure you are drinking enough water to compensate for what you are losing because of the heat.

I got the below information at the link I also put below. I have always worked out in both the morning and afternoon. I will do a bike ride in the morning and than my running and lifting in the afternoon. There is NO research as of yet that can prove whether running in the morning, mid day, evening, or night is the best. They all have their advantages and disadvantages. The below link I found had a little explanation for all the times. I hope this helps you.

"Late Afternoon is Best for Exercise

Research shows that the optimal time to exercise is when our body temperature is at its highest, which, for most people is 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. (body temperature is at its lowest just before waking).

Strength is Greater in the Afternoon

Dr. Hill reported that strength output is 5% higher at around mid-day; anaerobic performance, such as sprinting, improves by 5% in the late afternoon.

Endurance is Greater in the Afternoon

Aerobic capacity (endurance) is approximately 4% higher in the afternoon.

Injuries Are Less Likely in the Afternoon

Afternoon exercise is the best if you want to avoid injuries for many reasons. We are most alert; our body temperature is the highest so our muscles are warm and flexible; and our muscle strength is at its greatest. These three factors make it less likely that we will get injured."

PS: I'm a fan of working out in the afternoon if you couldn't tell.
