  1. I used to be the same way.  I started walking as a way to speedup weight loss for a diet I was on. (weight watchers).  Eventually I started runnung just a littlw bit at a time, just a block or two. I would be huffing and puffing, and wondering how anyone got enjoyment out of this, but I persisted, often forcing myself to walk/run and as the days went on, I increased the amount of time I ran and decreased the amount of time I walked.  One day I ran the entire distance of this bike path near my home (1.4 miles) and I was hooked.  I was so proud of myself that I decided I would always run at least that far.  Eventually I added distance to that and when the bike path ended I would turn on to side streets and running thre the neigborhoods.  I was shooting for two miles now.  The rest is history.  As time went on, my endurance became stronger.  I think that people who are just starting out need to be content with a block or two at first and not be discouraged when they feel winded.  You need to push the limits just a little more each time you run and remember that your body needs time to get used to the stress. I don't start feeling good until i have at least a mile in.  As far as breathing,  just breath however is best for you.  You are going to here others say breath in thru your nose and out through your mouth.  Thats a load of c**p.  Waddle on!

  2. jog slow, if you get tired, slow down or start walking, but NO STOPPING.

It should take a few weeks

  3. Slow down the jog to a speed just above a fast walk.  Then go as long as you can.  After you start to 'die,' and I know the feeling, walk quickly until you're under control.  Then kick it up again.

It takes a while for the body to adjust to the sport.

    Good lucK!

  4. make sure you pace yourself- if you go to fast you won't be able to manage and continue. i was amazed at how much further i could run when i just ran a bit slower.

to start off with, i suggest you run for 2 mins, walk for 1 min, then run for another 2 and so on. then build it up so you are running for 3 mins, walking for 1 etc.

    breathe in and out normally.

  5. Walk and run.

After a while, run more than walk.

    Then try running, no walking.

  6. Put one foot in front of the other. If you need to stop and walk, ok. After you've caught your breath then run some more. Work your way up to a mile. Each time you go you will be able to go a little farther without stopping. I know it sucks at the beginning and it seems like you'll never be able to do it, but you will. Be persistent and have a goal. I guarantee after a few times you will be running farther. It gets easier. Stick to it. Run with a partner or join a running club.
