Jogging slow vs running fast?

which burns more calories?

1) Run at 8mph for 4 miles without stopping in 80 degree weather. Drink water only when finished. 30 minute total workout.

2) jog slowly at 6mph for 1 mile. stop catch breath, walk for .1 miles before jogging again. repeat 4 times. 50 degree weather. Drinking water when needed. grand total of 4.4 miles. 60 minutes total workout.

  1. Both are beneficial.

    Running fast- ( i.e. sprinting) works the fast twitch muscles in your body.

    Running slow- (i.e long distance) works the slow twitch muscles in your body

More than one variable here, so I'd say the 1st one will burn more calories.....est. guess of 450 for #1 and #350-400 (depending on person) for #2 .  The fact that it is 80 degrees and running at a 7:30 mile/pace for 4 Mi. they will get heart rate up much higher and therefore burning calories at a faster rate.  With only 50 degrees and jogging slowly those in shape won't lose many calories

  3. Jogging, more time and more miles equals more calories.

  4. The activities are almost the same as far as calories burned.

  5. i would think jogging because it took u twice as long than running
