Jogging time info?

What is a good time for 2-,3-, and 5-mile runs? Right now they're at

2 miles - 12 min 33 sec

3 miles - 19 min 10 sec

5 miles - 35 min 18 sec

I'm not sure if these are good running times because I don't know too many people who like to run and all of the jogging/running sites say something different. I'm thinking about joining the military, so any recruiter input on this is welcome.

  1. I've helped a couple of people train for military academy (West Pointe was one of them) and for police training.  Your times are pretty solid for their standards.

If you want to improve for the sake of improving, you should focus on your 5-mile time.  I think that you could go faster than 35 with a 19' 3-mile.

  2. It seems like you're putting in a little over 6 minute miles for both your two and three mile runs.  This must either mean that you are either putting in 8 minute miles for the last two miles of your 5 mile run or you don't yet have the endurance to keep your near 6 minute/mile pace for a full 5 miles.  Work on your endurance by taking more 5 mile runs an I am sure that you will see improvement not only in the 5 mile, but also in your 2- and 3- mile runs. Good luck.
