The Dutch and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 legend considers the former Ajax and AC Milan player as the right person to succeed Bert van Marwijk, who left his post following the Oranje’s chaotic Euro 2012 exit.
Johan Cruyff has revealed that Frank Rijkaard would be a good and smart choice for the Netherlands coaching job, which is vacant after Bert van Marwijk stepped down from the managerial hot seat in the aftermath of the Oranje’s humiliating Euro 2012 exit.
The Dutch legend has insisted that the Flying Dutchmen need changes in their coaching staff and in the squad, and the former Barcelona boss would be the perfect man to do the job.
“Rijkaard has shown he dares to make radical choices when needed. The Dutch team must start again with a new staff and changes in the squad. Regarding the latter: it should be a mix of current internationals and younger talent”, Cruyff was quoted as saying
to Voetbal International.
The 65-year-old, who netted an impressive 33 goals in 48 matches while donning the jersey of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684.
“The process requires a lot of work to be performed by someone accustomed to this level, including some painful decisions. You must be looked up to as a coach and respected. Though I have not put a lot of thought into it, Rijkaard is the first name that
comes to me. He would be a good choice”, Cruyff concluded.
Rijkaard, who is currently the head coach of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Saudi-Arabia-c3000, started his professional coaching career in 1998 when he was appointed manager of the Oranje. He led the Flying Dutchmen all the way to the semi-finals of Euro 2000, where his side was beaten on

The Dutch mentor then spent the 2001/02 season at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sparta-Rotterdam-c40567 before being appointed as the head coach of Barcelona in the summer of 2003. The 49-year-old re-constructed the whole team, and managed to lift back-to-back La Liga titles in the 2004/05
and 2005/06 season while winning the UEFA Champions League once as well.
