The former La Blaugrana man has expressed the belief that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 will emerge victorious over their rivals when the two teams clash later this month.
As this season’s second El Clasico in the Spanish La Liga nears, the pressure is piling up on both teams as more than just reputation may be at stake when the two Spanish giants square off for the final time this season.
Johan Cruyff has stated that the four-point lead which Jose Mourinho’s men currently command over Barca will be reduced to one point, as the Catalans will ensure another victory over the Spanish capital-based club.
The Dutch legend was of the opinion that the current Spanish champions have proved to be the better team on numerous occasions and this will be the case once again, particularly because Los Blancos are not expected to do well under so much pressure.
At the moment, Madrid are at the top of the Spanish Primera Division’s league standings with a point’s lead over Barca. However, their advantage was previously 10 points and they have seen this healthy lead dwindle over the past two weeks.
Jose Mourinho’s men are faced with a number of issues as they have dropped six points and are thriving to win more games while currently being under a lot of pressure.
Cruyff believes that even if they manage to keep the advantage to four points by the time the Clasico takes place, the lead will reduce to just one, once the much-anticipated derby is over.
While writing a column for De Telegraph, he was quoted as saying:
"Real Madrid's lead over Barcelona has been reduced to only four points. It's Barcelona versus Real in two weeks time. Normally, the gap will be only one point after that,"
"The pressure on Real Madrid will be huge at that point. They will have to deal with Bayern Munich in the Champions League as well, while Athletic Bilbao await in the Liga. They take on Barca in the Copa del Rey final, so will hope that the Catalans win
the league title. Bilbao will then automatically qualify for the Europa League as cup finalists."
Real Madrid have managed a victory over Barcelona only once under Jose Mourinho, can they make it two when it matters the most? Only time will tell.
