The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 boss believes that the Eredivisie champions’ stature alone is enough for the new players, and insists that whoever is playing only for cash should leave the Amsterdam-based club.
Johan Cruyff has expressed his delight at Ajax Amsterdam’s financial policy, and has insisted that any player who just wants to make money at Amsterdam Arena should leave the club.
The Eredivisie champions have an extremely tight budget, and the former Barcelona head coach has backed the Amsterdammers management for keeping their finances in control.
In addition, the Dutch legend has also insisted that the players who are only interested in money should move away from Amsterdam Arena.
The Dutchman did not name any specific player, but it seems like that his words were directed at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jan-Vertonghen-c17814 and Gregory van der Wiel, who have expressed keen interest in moving away from Amsterdam Arena before the 2012/13 campaign
kicks-off.
“It is very good that Ajax have drawn clear financial boundaries. The feeling of honour and the policy of Ajax's officials are now the club's principals. The new players who come to Ajax must be aware of that. If they want to play
just to make money, they should go to another club”, Cruyff was quoted as saying to Voetbal International.
The 65-year-old Dutchman went on to heap praise on De Joden head coach, Frank de Boer, who has thus far grinded out impressive results without spending heavily.
“I have been told that coach Frank de Boer carries out these ideas perfectly”, Cruyff added.
Recent reports from Amsterdam arena indicate that Marc Overmars will be joining the Amsterdam giants’ backroom staff in the coming days, and Cruyff has insisted that the former Dutch winger would prove to be a great addition to
the club.
“He would be a great addition to the club. Ajax are a company, so you need a 'football guy' in the ranks. When you have got Frank de Boer, Dennis Bergkamp, Wim Jonk and Marc Overmars at your club, you cannot complain”, the former
Barcelona boss concluded.
Ajax will commence their 2012/13 campaign against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 Alkmaar at Amsterdam Arena on August 12.
