The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 star claims victory in court against the Amsterdam club to suspend appointment of Louis van Gaal
Reports from Amsterdam confirm that a Dutch judge has temporarily suspended the appointment of Louis van Gaal despite suggesting that the appointment was legal. However, the suspension would be permanent should the club's shareholders vote in favour of Cruyff.
Cruyff and four other board members were asked to step down from their respective posts following the legendary footballer’s dispute with four other board members.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Danny-c10193 Blind was appointed as the interim technical director while Martin Sturkenboom was given interim charge as general director.
However, the decision to appoint these new members was taken without the consent of Cruyff, which prompted a dispute between him and the other four members.
The club members’ council decided to ask all the five members to submit their resignations following the disputes. However, the decision did not go well with the Dutchman and he took the club to court last week in a bid to block the new appointments.
The court said in a summary of the ruling that "The judge believes these steps are necessary to allow shareholders to decide on the ‘Cruyff line’ or the ‘Van Gaal line”.
Cruyff saw the verdict as a “victory of the club”. While talking to the media, he said: “It feels like something different than to win a game. And hopefully soon we can only talk about football at Ajax”.
He then went on to add that “The plan we have drawn up can be implemented, so it’s ideal for everybody that supports football and Ajax”.
Reports indicate that the club shareholders will have to decide for or against Van Gaal and Stukenboom in a meeting with the final verdict to be given inside the next six months.
